Consolidation

Consolidation, in the field of technical analysis, means that the stock price moves sideways. A share price in a consolidation phase goes neither up nor down.

Consolidation means that it is a balance between supply and demand for shares. It is usually not attractive to own stocks that are in a consolidation phase. The share price is moving up and down during the consolidation phase but the overall trend is horizontal and that is not attractive.
