Classes are groups of data and data is grouped into classes to organize and describe the data. Once a survey has been undertaken, you have raw data that need to be organized into classes to be meaningful.

When choosing how many classes you will use to organize the raw data, you should consider to use enough in order to see the distribution. The number of classes can be determined by the 2^k method, where k is the number of classes. Two to the power of k must be greater than the number of observations according to the 2^k method.
